Frozen pipes

PDF Print E-mail

With the cold Columbus winter, it is not uncommon for your pipes to freeze overnight. The most common sign that your pipes have frozen is turning on your faucet after a cold night to discover your usual stream of water has been reduced to a small trickle, or sometimes, nothing.

Frozen pipes can be more than just an incovenience. Frozen pipes can actually become a major problem since the frozen water will expand putting excess pressure your pipes causing them to burst or break. So what can you do to prevent the damage from spreading?

The most common procedure is thawing your pipes. This can be done in many ways but the most common is to wrap your pipes with a towel soaked in hot water.
